About

Originally from Amsterdam but with a colourful and worldwide exposure as a flight attendant/photographer, Pauline migrates to Australia on January 1st 2006 with hubby and three year old daughter and settles right away in Noosa.

She craves everything the ocean has to offer, sand, waves, coral, driftwood and of course seashells. She opens a stand at the Eumundi Markets within weeks of touching down and exposes her nascent shell art. It doesn’t take long until she gets noticed.

The first street shop opens at the Noosa Junction in 2009 and it has sand all over the floor. Noosa visitors and locals alike are charmed. Shell candles become the next addition to the gallery, they come in all shapes, forms and scents. They become an instant hit. Driftwood art doesn’t take long to appear and mesmerises visitors.

Pretty soon “Shells by Pauline” becomes the talk of the town, the Sunshine Coast Daily and a large Dutch newspaper “Het Parool” even dispatches a journalist to write an article and take photos.

Art workshops soon follow, adults and children (and parents) are delighted. More space, with more floor sand, is needed and it culminates in a new location at the Junction, larger, fuller, more exposed for all to see and enjoy and with a new name “Très Noosa”.

“It only makes sense” she says, “the shop is very Noosa-looking and besides my husband’s French”.

In ten short years Pauline and “Très Noosa” have become an icon of the Sunshine Coast, Noosa’s best kept secret and a place not to be missed.
